Ynys
Môn CAB currently needs volunteers to
provide advice in bureau, the Home Visit Rural
Access Project & our new telephone advice
service

|
Most of our advisers
are volunteers who work with the support
of our full-time paid staff

How We Choose Our
Advisors |
|
We don't ask for special qualifications
because everyone is fully trained by the CAB service.
We want people who are good listeners and are open
minded. You need to be able to work well with clients
and do basic maths. We serve the whole community and
so we need people with language skills who understand
different local cultures. We welcome people with disabilities.
We look for people who enjoy working
in a team - Age needn't matter. If you've just left
college, remember we are keen to recruit more young
people. Or do you have time to spare for the first
time following retirement? Maybe you are unemployed
or want to return to work now the children are at
school: CAB experience can lead to paid employment.

| Training |
| Training is provided to a high standard
over a period of 3 - 6 months. During the latter part
of 1999, a new training system which follows NVQ principles
came into operation. Trained advisers can now receive
a certificate in advisory work. Initial training is
at Holyhead or Llangefni, allowing the opportunity to
become familiar with our bureau, to get to know the
advisers, to find the way around the information system
- Do not worry, advisers do not have to remember any
facts or figures. The golden rule is LOOK IT UP, the
information system is up-dated monthly. Further training
on listening and interview skills is given at the local
NACAB office and this involves attendance for six days
over a period of three weeks. |
| Commitment |
| If you join us our minimum commitment
requirement is 6 hours per week (holidays are allowed!)
which translates to one day or two half days of advice
giving per week. |
